  How To Win At Video Poker

In order to win at video poker I strongly suggest you to learn in this fashion: 

1. Always Play Maximum Coin - Because the fifth coin bonus is figured into long term payouts of the machine, you will not be able to achieve maximum payout over the long run unless you play all 5 coins.  If you don't play maximum coins, you will not beat the machine over the long haul.

2. Only Play Full Pay Machines- While it is true that it is possible to get 100%+ payouts at video poker, you must be aware that only some machines will pay out at these rates.  These machines are known as full payout machines because if played correctly the machine, and therefore the casino, will have no built in advantage over the player.

   Identifying full-payout machines

  • Don't look at the name of the machine
  • Look at the payout table of the machine
Here is an example of a  common full payout schedule for Jacks or Better Video Poker.  It is referred to as a 9-6 machines because the payouts for the Full House and Flush are 9 coins and 6 coins respectively. Although video poker machines have 5 payout columns, only two columns are important:
  • The 1st coin column so you can identify what the payout schedule is.
  • The 5th coin column so you can identify how much the Royal Flush Jackpot (bonus) is.
